Australia's Chief Scientist, Prof Tony Haymet, and the Office of the Chief Scientist are saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Jim Peacock.

Jim worked at the CSIRO for many years, was a past president of the Australian Academy of Science and served as Chief Scientist of Australia from 2006–2008. His work on cotton varieties that required less water was just one of his immense contributions to Australian science.
