On Thursday 23 April, Prof Tony Haymet attended the Future Energy Forum delivered by the Melbourne Energy Institute and the University of Melbourne Industry Partnerships team.

The forum explored how advanced energy technologies, particularly fusion, could contribute to Australia’s long-term energy security, decarbonisation goals, and industrial competitiveness with clear public values and community expectations in mind.

“It was great to hear from Dr Sam Sicilia, Dr Warren McKenzie and Matt Bungey, who discussed the challenges associated with securing social licence for nuclear-related technologies,” Prof Haymet said.

The event was hosted by Prof Richard Sandberg, Director, Melbourne Energy, University of Melbourne and moderated by Prof Martin Sevior, Professor, School of Physics, University of Melbourne. Prof Maria Rost Rublee, University of Melbourne, also spoke at the forum.
