Electric Future: Wiring For Progress: UTS – 2016 Zunz Lecture

Electric Future: Wiring For Progress: UTS - 2016 Zunz Lecture - 3 November

Dr Finkel will be the keynote presenter at the 2016 Zunz Lecture. The 2016 Zunz Lecture is intended to continue to stimulate high-quality public discussion and debate around our cities and our future, and in this instance to explore our changing energy needs, changing climate expectations, and changing technology, particularly as it relates to our cities, our communities and our built environment.

We look forward to switching on the electric planet, thriving on accessible and reliable energy, whilst pushing emissions ever closer to nil. Could that energy come from hydrogen? What are the prospects for solar and wind? Is there a transition path the community can accept – and a vision for the future we might embrace?

The 2016 Lecture will take the form of a Keynote Address and Panel discussion, hosted by the Powerhouse Museum and moderated by Arup Principal Dr Richard Sharp.  The Panel brings together a breadth of perspectives including technical, social, entrepreneurial and governance opportunities and challenges.

The Keynote Address will be presented by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel AO, who has an extensive science background as an entrepreneur, engineer, neuroscientist and educator.
